The client had not connected the Trezor since moving residences in 2019. The original paper backup was stored in a moving box and showed water staining on the lower third. During the assessment we identified that words 10 through 14 were partially illegible.
Our report recommended against immediate device connection attempts and instead prioritised reconstructing the damaged words using the client’s handwritten draft found in a notebook. The client engaged a specialist recovery firm three weeks later with our documentation. Recovery was completed within six weeks using two of the three reconstructed word candidates.
Outcome: Funds accessed. Client returned for a Seed Phrase Documentation Review to create a new steel backup.

The partnership held a Coldcard with a 3-of-5 Shamir backup split among three partners and two secure locations. One partner had left the company in 2022, and the location of his share was unknown.
Our inventory session mapped which shares were accounted for, identified the missing share as the critical blocker, and documented the threshold mathematics for the remaining partners. We did not attempt recovery. The report enabled the partnership’s legal counsel to pursue the missing share through formal channels.
